IPBA 2022 - 6th Annual Conference of the International Place Branding Association
Since 2016, the International Place Branding Association has been organising a annual conference in a city of the world. After London (2016), Swansea (2017), Macau (2018), Volos (2019) and Barcelona (2021), the IPBA has chosen for 2022 Aix-en-Provence and the premises of the Institute of Public Management and Territorial Governance (Aix-Marseille University).
The Conference aims to bring together scholars, practitioners and students of place branding and related fields (nation branding, public diplomacy, city branding, country branding, destination branding). It is the main vehicle to advance the aims of the International Place Branding Association, which include providing a forum for the exchange of ideas around the theory and practice of place branding, linking the members of the international place branding community in a beneficial manner, bringing scholars and practitioners closer together and advancing the professionalization of the field.
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE EVENT:
- conferences: researchers and practitioners share their experiences on place branding, destination branding, public diplomacy, etc.
- workshops: several workshop sessions allow researchers, practitioners and students to present their research and exchange with other participants in place branding and related fields.
- a doctoral colloquium: doctoral students present and discuss their work with a panel of experienced place branding researchers and their peers.
- an art gallery: Explorations or interpretations of historical and current themes of place branding are on display. All works are original and inspired by the contributors' research, practice or broader engagement with place branding, territorial marketing and related issues. The objective is to allow participants to express their ideas, concerns, ambitions, reflections, questions or conclusions about territorial brands outside the constraints of the usual scientific and academic formats.
